Congratulations to all the medal winners and to Tathra Oysters for again taking home the Champion trophy with the highest scoring Rock Oyster of the competition.

The 2024 Sydney Royal Aquaculture Competition was fierce, and, for the first time in the competition’s history, all exhibits received a medal thanks to the exceptional quality submitted. This is great news for our industry and a stellar result for us!

"We’ve had a stellar competition this year and I congratulate every Exhibitor on the level of presentation; for the first time in our history, all exhibits judged received a medal thanks to the high-quality products showcased,”  Sydney Royal Aquaculture Chair of Judges, John Susman said.

“Despite some challenging conditions for farmers, our Judges were impressed. The industry understands that consistency of size, shape and condition is paramount, and I am proud to say we saw this dedication reflected across the competition.

“The Sydney Royal Aquaculture competition is a showcase that helps drives consumer expectation, and the level of quality we’ve seen this year reflects a more discerning consumer who is demanding provenance from farmers which helps drive the industry forward.”

We congratulate our Wallis Lake, Wapengo and Narooma oyster farming teams on these well-deserved medals. We are so proud of all our farming teams for their dedication to delivering consistent high-quality products for our customers. Moreover, all of our exhibits came from internal seed from our nursery farms at Hastings River, Wallis Lake & Bermagui.

Unfortunately, two of our grow-out farms (Shoalhaven and Merimbula, both 2023 Sydney Royal gold medal winners) were closed to harvest at the time of exhibit submission and were withdrawn from the 2024 competition.

These medals exemplify our teamwork and commitment to producing premium quality oysters.

We are very proud of the 2024 results which follows on from our seven medals in the 2023 competition as well as being a finalist in the prestigious 2023 President's Medal award. Read more.
